The Space Between Comics
Writing Sample

So this is a sample from a book I wrote in high school entitled “Omega Night: The Battle of the Elements” (yep). This was originally supposed to be a text-based game for QBasic, but I realized programming took too long so it just became a book (this was long before I heard of webcomics). So remember, this book STARTED sophomore year (Jan 2003 to be precise), so I was 16 when I started it.

(Also, I only typed it up for some writing quiz. My result was Stephen King).

Gula lay on the floor, barely alive. He glowed bright red once more, then went back to his regular form, which left him with a little more life left in him. He managed to drag his body over to his axe, and picked it up, as well as the claw.
“Congratulations,” the Water Spirit said. “You have defeated my Monstrosofish and obtained the Sea Claw, a pendant which allows you to summon and control me, Hydor, the Water Element.”

After the Spirit said this, a blue line shined around Gula, and he was healed to full health. His shredded armor was repaired, and around his neck hung the Sea Claw. The water, which once flooded the room, drained away. “Now, young one, use your powers to defeat the forces of evil. Good luck,” Hydor said. The force field surrounding the balcony disappeared, and Beedo, Erin and Cybil were levitated back down to Gula’s level.
